Convention Swaps 2010 - Stampin' UP! - Sydney Australia -

What a wonderful time we had at convention!!! One of the highlights of convention every year is SWAPS.... It's a great way to meet demos from all over Australia and New Zealand... To have a bit of a chat and pick their brains on their creativity or offer sincere compliments on their efforts!!!..... I just wanted to say how thankful I am to ALL the lovely demonstrators that swapped with me.... I loved coming home and really looking at all of them.. You truly are Inspired to Create and Share at a Convention!!! After all that was the whole them of this years Stampin' UP! convention....
I now have so many wonderful project ideas to replicate and be inspired by I am sure I will be kept really busy for the next year....I have taken some really quick photos of all of my swaps. They are not the best of quality sorry because the wind was blowing fiercely on the day I wanted to take them.. and the light inside was not the best!!! but at least you can get a bit of an idea on what I received. I hope you enjoy looking & being inspired as much as I did!!...

Imagine coming with me next year to convention... 2011 in Melbourne.... for............

THREE DAYS!!!! Wahoo!!!!!

These are the swaps I made.. I had to do a few different ones....
This Boho flower one was inspired from 2008 SU Catalogue... Simple but elegant!!!
Boho Flower Card SwapThis one was inspired by PaperANGELS team member Dianna and her swaps from Regional training this year... Thanks Love.. for the inspiration..
Bookmark - StayzOn Stamping on Overhead Transparency
I'm loving this one... It's Tess with Pony wings!!! Done on OHT so that you can reverse the wings.. You could also use Velum if you wanted... for a more muted look... Tess and Pony Wings SwapsInspiration was because we are the PaperANGELS... Just got to get in theme and put wings on anything or everything I can!!! or a Halo.. as most of you will see from photos (in further blogs etc) or remember from convention.. I'm the crazy chick that walks around with a bright pink halo on.. Sadly my team were not in "total" theme this year.. it could have something to do with the fact that I dis not supply them with their halo this year... Come on girls where is your TEAM SPIRIT!!!! I will make you do it next year!!! You know I will!!!

Tess proved to be a HIT and was first to go!!! It makes all the devoted time to creating these so worth while.. not to mention the wonderful swaps (as I have said above) I received makes it soooooooooo worth while to go all out and make 100 or so swaps... Can't believe it was one whole week ago now!!! My how time flys!!!

May Wedding Flowers

I LOVE Wedding flowers!!! .... This one was fairly simple in the fact that the flowers were required for a photo shoot (done by my friends from Pure Focus) and all the client wanted was a Bouquet of flowers and a button hole..

This picture looks like they were peach in colour but they were actually Pink... And looked stunning with the light green!!

Beta Sigma Phi - Facinator Workshop

Last weekend I was blessed to be involved with a wonderful group of ladies who belong to the Beta Sigma Phi an International Womens' friendship network... They do some wonderful things in our community and towards the end of 2010 they are holding a FASCINATING cocktail fundraising event.. They all wanted to make their own.... so they asked me if I could run a class for them.... Man I had my works cut out for me!!! 9 ladies with totally different ideas.. and most of them not so sure how to put keep it together.... It was a SOLID 4 hour workshop.... With me not stopping... My only worry for the day was that I did would not ignore anyone for too long.. As I knew I could not be with everyone all at once... but in true Ursula creative schizophrenic mannerisms... I was able to jump from task to task, instructing each lady how to assemble her individual fascinator....Last week I heard back form Margaret (the wonderful event coordinator) that all the ladies really enjoyed themselves.. and each of them love their creations.... Phew!!! (*sigh... and wipe brow) I've been blessed to make some really lovely friends with these ladies.. and am very grateful to know them...

They were helping me raise funds to go to Singapore with the Queensland Festival Chorus as well.... Through this workshop... Thank you to the lovely lady that really wanted to come but was unable to ... yet still donated to my fund!!!! Bless you all!!! Muwah....

PaperANGELS April 2010 meeting

We made these two lovely projects at our April meeting.. how cool are they???
They both feature something that has been cut using the Big Shot....

Big Shot Magnettic Movers CardThis card uses the Magnetic Movers & Shapers (pg. 9 Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue 2010)
The window in this one matches our Curly Label Punch and Stamp set on page 153 of the Australian 209-2010 Catalogue.....
AND....... This STUNNINGLY CUTE box uses the Scallop Circle Die (pg. 8 Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue 2010) and what is even better.. is that because it was a rather small attendance being that it was on a long weekend and lots of people had other plans.. well those of us who were dedicated enough (*dig dig.. *wink Wink... heheh) to attend got great blessings!!!! We got 2 Cadbury Picnic bars to fill the box... Yeah for Chocolate... I thought this was a great idea for a cute box for party treats.. and not so hard to make either...

Lady Bug Box - Lg Big Shot Scallop Circle DieI can't wait to see some variations on this cute design... Alien... Halloween pumpkins etc...

My only problem was Liz made us wait for instructions.. man... It really taught me some patience... argghhh!!! hheheheh

Mass Production with a formula

A very wise woman once said... "The easiest way to mass produce it to come up with a formula"
Thanks Liz.... Always a great source of inspiration... I love ideas.. they really are what keeps the mojo a flowin'!!!
So this 'formula' is where your DSP is cut slightly smaller than the front of your card and stuck on.. Then you change it up with how you decorated with greeting/sentiment and ribbon.....

Mass Production Cards with a FormulaAnd this 'formula' is where you cut all your DSP to a measurement and change it up each time you stick some down.. also change greeting /sentiment...

Mass Produce Cards with a formulaIt's great to have a 'formula' to enable you to mass produce the whole years cards at once.. or to make heaps of cards so you can put together some gift packs to give to your friends and family for pressies.... or like me you can sell them.... but be sure that you follow the Angel policy and put a © STAMPIN' UP! on the back of each card... especially if you have used some of their stamps to do pictures or greetings...

Oh you could use this kind of a formula when you want to make MILLIONS of cards for conventions swaps etc!!!... It's not long now till Australia Convention 2010!!! Whoot whoo!!!! Maybe I will be doing something like this??? Who knows???

Cottage Wall Workshop

Cottage Wall Workshop CardsLast weekend I had the Cottage Wall Workshop... That I CASED From Liz... Picture above.... And my ladies really loved it... They loved it even more when I let them loose with some of my punches and other stamps to put greeting on their cards.... Here's just a few variations that they came up with!!!

Cottage Wall Workshop Cards - VariationsCottage Wall Workshop - Punches and othersMore Cottage Wall WorkshopArhhh.. they have been taught well.... heheh (oh I am so humble!!!)
Well done my grasshoppers!!!
While they were doing theirs I chose the same 'formula' to do a mass production of cards to get ready for What's New Pussycat Shopping extravaganza.... This is a great way to make your whole years worth of cards in one sitting!!!! I highly recommend it!!

A Day with a Big Shot part 2

So here is the rest of the cards that were partly made last weekend... I would like to thank the amazing Amanda for helping me with this mass production effort.. There is still heaps to do with all the bits that we cut out... It should keep us busy for the next few weeks!!! FUN FUN FUN!!!

Cottage Wall DSP Autumn - Winter Mini

I LOVE LOVE LOVE This Designers Series Paper!!! How beautiful is it????
I adapted teh card design on page 30 of the Mini Catalogue to suit a Scrapbook page.. I love how you can use all the idea's in the Catalogues.. Your only linitation is your imagination!!!
I was so glad that I found the PERFECT picture for this lay out!!!

Cottage Wall DSP Autumn - Album Page I had to make the matching card.... I find it's great to be able to show the versatility at a workshop of how we can adapt card designs to Scrap pages and visa versa....

ELCTRIC BLUE Wedding

I LOVE LOVE LOVE This new Card I designed with a bride last week.... She is having Electric Blue as part of the colour theme and Butterflies galore... So I purchased the new 'All a Flutter' (pg 35, 2010 Autumn-Winter Mini) butterfly stamp in the Mini.. in the hope that it would be suitable to her needs...

After playing around with a few ideas for a couple of hours we are settled on these designs...
We've gone with the Gate Fold card... and a belly band... With the Butterfly embossed in silver... How classy does this look??? I am LOVING IT!!! And so is my Bride... Which is BRILLIANT!!!

ELCTRIC BLUE Wedding Invite
Then for the Bobonaries we have gone with this look....

ELCTRIC BLUE Wedding Bonbon TreatThere will be Thank you's and place cards to make and design still.... I believe we should have it all wrapped up quite well; soon... .. and very in tune with the theme!!!

FANTASTIC Vintage Vogue

I am loving getting back into Scrapbooking and seeing that last time Harvey Norman has a special on Digital prints I got 200 printed.. Well lets just say I have plenty to do!!!!

Last year I went to Singapore and sung with a wonderful Group of people (Queensland Festival Chorus) and was blessed to be able to perform with The Orchestra of the Music Makers in the Esplanade... I wanted to keep a bit of a memory of that wonderful moment in my life so I can treasure it in my old.... er years... And what a wonderful way to do it with Scrapbooking...

I purchased the Vintage Vogue stamp set (pg 16, 2010 Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue) and I wanted to try it out... So for our Mini Catalogue Launch I decided to do a couple of pages.... And again being time poor I was able to CASEd the idea out of the Mini.. because the page was BEAUTIFUL... and as many have said before "why reinvent the wheel?" That is why Stampin' UP! puts such wonderful pictures into all our Catalogues.... to inspire us all!!! So lets use this tool to the best of our ability...
Anyway enough jibber jaber... here's my page.. I think it turned out LOVELY!!!

FANTASTIC Vintage Vogue Scap Page

Scrapping with new colours

I completely CASED this idea from our last Paper Angels meeting... But changed it for our New Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue colours...Rich Razzleberry.... It was part of my last scrapbook class.... Those who made it really loved it...

Rich Rassleberry Scrapping Page
We also made a little box with matching gift cards inside.. (Photo to come). with a slightly different technique.. again CASED from PaperANGEL meetings... I am so glad that I belong to a group that inspires me and that I want to use the ides we are taught at meetings.. It takes some of the pressure off for coming up with inspirational things on my own!!! Yeah GO TEAM!!!

A Day in the Studio with a BIG SHOT

Now you all think I spent some time with someone STAR in a recording Studio don't you..???
Well I did.... (not a recording studio though... that was a slight fabrication.. hehe) I spent the day with Stampin' UP's New Big Shot.... I am fortunate enough to be able at times to borrow stuff from Liz.. She is a gem!!! And I borrowed it over last weekend.
Now in order to be time efficient and get the most out of it I had my family.. 2 boys 10 & 7 and my WONDERFUL hubbie working a sweat shop in the studio for a couple of hours... And surprisingly enough the boys were happy to help because they could play with something that I would normally not let them play with... EXPENSIVE CRAFT TOOLS!!!!! but let me tell you kids can do the BIG SHOT well!!! And it is very industrial.. they would have to throw it on the floor from quite a height to break it!!! So not only is is fun for Big people to use but the kids like it too and as it does not need loads of force to die cut or emboss little people can use it too!!!

I think we made up about 50 cards... These are ones I have taken photos of at this point... There is more to come so check back in a few days to see if I have added more to this slide show...

I am Loving the BIG SHOT!!! New punches and the Circle Scissor Plus!!! They are Definite must for all us mad Paper Crafters!!!

Introducing Stampin' Up!'s Colour Renovation!

Official Announcement from Stampin' UP! on the 7th of April 2010

"We are pleased to introduce our Colour Renovation! Because colour is fundamental to who we are as a company, and what you offer as a demonstrator, it's important for you to be able to stay up-to-date with trends in colour. We are thrilled to share with you our updated line of colours, and hope you will be as excited as we are by the new possibilities!

The new line of colours will be available with the upcoming 2010-2011 catalogue, but as this is a change that will affect demonstrators worldwide, we wanted to introduce it all at once. More information and tools will be coming later this year as we near the transition, but we wanted you to know the basics now......"

Wow. This really is some exciting news!

Some of our current colours will be discontinued and there will be some brand new colours introduced, along with the return of some of our favourite in-colours!

Our colours will then be organised into 4 Colour Collections, 10 in each family... Which will fit perfectly in my Officeworks 5 draw organisers... hehe... This is rather than the Colour Families we know at the moment (12 in each). As you can see by the picture below some of the colours have moved into different collections and I am liking the way they look - they seem so fresh and vibrant!

There's still quite a bit of time before this comes into effect so don't worry - you will have plenty of time to collect any of your favourite colours that may be discontinued.
If you have favourties that you just can't live without, its a great idea to purchase the ink refill bottle so that your inkpads can last almost forever! And you might like to purchase a pack or 2 of the matching cardstock to see you through.
Honestly I was a little shocked and perhaps pouted for a moment or two when it was first brought to my attention.... but the more I look at the colour collection, and the more time I take to digest the RENOVATION.... the more it grows on me....... I am sure that I will fall in love with the new collections just as much as I love the current ones. As I am sure you will too...
You will see and hear more about this as September draws closer, but for now, enjoy your colours and keep stamping!

Crafting and Talking with someone one day may just SAVE their life!!!

Well I would like to report that yesterdays Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue launch went quite well... The only hic-cup was that we had everyone arrive on time!!! What's with that??? hehe.. So much for people dribbling in for a steady constant flow.. I guess that was due to EVERYONE being so excyted about the new products available and being able to play with them..
Thanks to all who came.

Oh and by the way... 2 of the Three Door prizes went to the ladies on my table.. hehe.. They were Liz's customers BUT>>>>> they were on my table... (just had to get that in there.. no competitive side here ;)

So I called one of my ladies (name withheld as I have not asked her permission to mention it as of yet) today and she mentioned that on her way home there was a fatal accident on the freeway... Her friend that was with her said.... "you know if Ursula did not come over to talk to us at the end we may have been in the accident.." WOW!!! Did that give me the goosebumps!!! Here I was thinking to myself that I should just check in again and make sure I am polite and say goodbye. Because you get so caught up in the busy-ness of getting people through their cards and making sure that they are all finished and having a good time B4 they leave that you sometimes feel like you may have neglected your customers and friends. Especially if they are first timers to our events. So if you have a moment to breath you try to think what else you can do to help someone have a positive time at their first PaperANGELS event... and as I have been informed.... Talking with them may have saved their lives... Things do happen for a reason!!! I truly believe that!!

Craft can save someones life.. and even being polite can do this... I am grateful for being an instrument on this occasion.. and that the gift of the gab has helped again...

Love and thoughts to those who were caught up in the accident.. May you feel his loving arms surround you at this time!!!

Love Ursula xxxx

PaperAngels Meeting - February

Thanks to Leonie for this blog entry.. I asked her if I held the scallop edge for her could I copy and past her blog entry.. and that is what I have done... heheh.. Thanks love!!!

At our February Paper Angels Meeting we made this Beautiful Birthday Card featuring Butterfly Prints from the Summer Mini.

HAPPY Birthday Card
Stamps: Butterfly Prints (Summer Mini), Happy Everything
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Kiwi Kiss
Card: Bravo Burgundy, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Bella Rose DS
Accessories: Bravo Burgundy Grosgrain Ribbon
Tools: Circle Scissors Plus (summer Mini), Scallop Edge Punch, Paper Snips, Butterfly Punch (summer mini), Stamp-a-majig, Piercer, Adhesives.

Don't you love the scallop edge created around the large circle? Wondering how you can do this? I've put together some photos and instructions for you below.

1. Punch a long strip (A4 long side) of Card with the Scallop Edge Punch
Step one - Punch out a length of Scallop border and snip between each scallop 2. Snip between each scallop from flat side 3/4 way so you don't snip right off.

Bend Slightly together 3. Gently start creating a curve.

Bend and Glue around a circle 4. Put Adhesive right around the outside edge of your circle (on the back) and slowly adhere your scallop edge around the circle.

It should look like this
I've also had a few questions about the Circle Scissors Plus, and whether it is difficult to use. I love it, and after Liz showing me how to use it at our meeting, I find it very easy to use (unlike other horrible circle cutters I've tried in the past!). The circle scissor is so quick and easy, and makes a simple layout look a bit more special.

I only wish I had the skills to create a video tutorial to show you how great the Circle Scissors Plus is. Lucky for me though, some other SU demonstrators have done just this and I am able to include this great tutorial for you to watch on YouTube. Click here.

The Circle Scissors Plus and Glass Mat are sold separately. You can see them on the last page of the Summer Mini.

Reminder... there are only 2 weeks left to stock up
on your Summer Mini favourites!

The New Designers Markets are on every first Sunday of the month...
This was our stall..With the lovely Suzie in the middle.... being that it was our first we were kind of playing it by ear... So we have come up with some better ways to display our stuff for next time..... Next month we should look even more professional!!!

Sue is a brilliant Milliner! She is zany and alternative... everything a NEW DESIGNER should be... We both think that we should go back to wearing hats and lovely things every day!!!

This is the event you have been waiting for. In fact we are so excited about the new products in the upcoming Autumn Winter Catalogue, we can't wait to share them with you. In the true spirit of Stampin' Up!, the best way to share these new products and techniques is to invite you to use them. We know you will love the 2 make & take cards we have planned, where you will use the new Stampin' Up! Big Shot with dies & embossing folders, a new punch style as well as the Clear Mount Stamp Option. Probably the biggest news we have is the introduction of 3 new exclusive colours and you will get to use our favourite new colour in one of the Make & Takes.

There are 2 dates and venues to choose from

Sunday 28th March 2-5pm
Wynnum Manly Leagues Club
92 Wondall Rd, Manly West

Pendirup Community Centre
365 Samsonvale Rd, Warner

The $10 entry fee for the launch includes a Mini Catalogue, 2 Deluxe Make & Takes, Fantastic Demonstrations, Door Prize Entry and Displays of Papercraft & New Product. RSVP is absolutely essential as we have a lot of preparation and ordering to do and payment would be appreciated either directly to your Paper Angels Demonstrator (me) or alternately you can use the neat Pay Pal Payment Button on the PaperANGELS blog. Pay Pal is a secure way to pay and will help us keep track of numbers and names, so if you can use this option, we would really appreciate you giving this payment method a go. If none of these options suit you, please contact me with your RSVP and we can make other arrangements.
