Swaps..... Preperations for going to Stampin' UP! Celebrate Convention 2009

Now SWAPS are a part of "Convention Culture"... and are a must for one to have the whole convention experience.. not to mention that it is COOL to have new ideas for projects etc and a GREAT way to meet other wonderful talented Stampin' Up Demonstrators (Australia wide)... And awesome for those of us who are shy with strangers...

(*yes girls I am.... believe it or not.. I suck at small talk... great to get in to a D&M with!!! but I don't particularly care about the whether.... cause today I am ALIVE!!! And usually it's great... and if it's not.. then you just smile and pretend.. so that eventually you fool yourself into having a great time!!! you know "Fake it till you make it"!!! That's not being false or fake.. just being positive.. I'll always tell you if I am feeling Crappy I just add it to the pile of poo in my life... you get used to the smell eventually... but I'll do it with a smile.. and move on quickly... Besides I have craft in my life.. who could not be HAPPY with that???)

Back to SWAPS... I get a little side tracked sometimes....

SWAPS... sometimes the inspiration comes fast.. Usually it comes slowly.. especially if you have been to one or 2 conventions B4... You want to demonstrate something cool.. new.. and pretty... but the pressure we sometimes put on ourselves to come up with that 'different' idea... well it's just too much... And let me tell you that someone somewhere in the world will have thought about 'your' idea B4... So just relax and take the pressure off yourself and create something that you enjoy... because you are gonna make A LOT of them...!!!

With that in mind.. I came up with hair clips this year.... And thought I was very original... but discovered days later that in the USA Stampin' UP! Catalogue on page 35 there are some hair clips... dough!!!

However It was a labor of love!!! (if you get board.. then change colours.. that may help??)
another tip... Take all your swaps on the first day and SWAP LIKE A MAD WOMAN!!!! As a result of not taking them all on the first day... I have some of these left... yes you live and learn the culture!!! Please learn form my mistakes... Especially if you do more than 50 swaps...!!!

My Hair Accessory swaps for Stampin' UP! Celebrate Convention 2009If anyone is interested in these.. please call me or email me or message me on here.. I will send you one(or 2)!!! or you can come pick one (or2) up!!! Anytime... They may reappear at Regional training... or could be Hostess rewards for a little while!!!

I do have heaps of swaps that I received and am yet to take some photos of.. I will be putting them up soon.. so stay tuned

Preperations for going to Stampin' UP! Celebrate Convention 2009

There is so much that goes into preparing for a convention.. forget the 'normal' girly stuff... of making sure you have the right day wear clothes, accessories, hair products, make up and glorious evening outfit that will be dolled up to boot!!! .... there is all the preparations for .... SWAPS>>>> And then you have the ingenious thought of... 'Well maybe I want to give my team something.. cause I want them to stand out in the crowd and know that someone loves them..' (even the ones interstate whom you have never met....cause they are part of the team too!!!) So this is were the creative part in me steps it up BIG time... See not having a lot of money to spare.. well you can get quite resourceful!!! Plus you have to come up with something that combines your creative idea with some Stampin' Up! product.... That you can mass produce and that is useful to convention activities....

So my original idea was to make some name badges for our team using our hodge podge... Being that we are the I wanted to make some little angel name broaches.....

Hodge Podge Name Tag Brooches
(I think they tuned out beautifully... You know that our punches come in hand for weights to be sure that things stay together while glue is drying too!!! hehe... how versatile are they???)

Then I had this other idea for Liz... (my upline... and friend) I wanted to do something special for her this year... I remembered that I was blessed to meet a wonderful lady.. Katrina.. who has her own business where she prints business logos etc on ribbon (or wine bottles or stuff like that.. I have mentioned her before.... ) Presonalise Ribbons web site. Click to view....
Anyway.... I got her to do 2 Beauty Queen Sashes.. one for me (of course) and another special one for Liz...With our Logo on it... and when I received the samples.. Well I just so darned excited that I had to share it with ALL the PaperANGELS... They were so gorgeous!!!...

When I had all the broaches done and enough loo paper rolls (eweeeh) to roll ribbons on.. I decided that I would wrap them... Of course as our team shirts are black and the logo is HOT pink... I had to do black ribbons and pink passion tags to decorate a attach the name broaches on...

Hodge Podge Name Badges and Convention 2009 Sashes
Together they looked soooooooooo cute!!! (*It did take forever to get them to sit right to take this photo!!!!)

(*I was worried that some of the women may not like them.... that they would be a little too cutsie for them.... but I was so chuffed that all the girls wore them every day!!! Thank you ladies!!! Love you all!!!)

The best thing about the sashes is that I had a momentary stroke of genius to make them memorabilia of "Stampin' Up Convention 2009"... So along with the paperANGELS logo I had those words on the end too... Most of the girls are going to hang them in their craft areas/rooms... What an honor... (Man I am so emotional at the moment that I keep tearing up!!! What a DAG!!!)

Anyway There are a few photos of the girls wearing them... I will add them later.. perhaps to another blog entry... as this one is a little long...

Preparation for Convention is FUN!!!!

Graphgic Design...

Mine is very simple!!
Hand Crafted by Ursula James:-
PaperANGELS:-

Aaron's Grump Bear:-
Exquisite Brow:-For some reason it changes the colour when you load that picture on here... It's much nicer than that.. it is Blues with blond hair and red lips... not these greens and oranges!!! icky!!!

Personalised Wines:- The basic card was set out by Katrina and the font was one of hers.. But the wine glass bottle and liquid was my work... Check out her Web Site.. CLICK HERE

Then I worked out how to make it a Logo so if she wanted to get rubber stamps made or print her logo on things in a simplified version she would have something to do that with.. Katrina will be adding the text...

Triple R Photos...
Our logo and business card... Colours again are a bit whacked.. no idea why.. but you get the idea of the card

There is more to come.. Stay tuned

Wedding Bonbonneries - Treasure Chest Type

I made these for a client just recently.. I tried to get some padlocks to make them look more like a treasure chest.. only there was none to be found!!! I substituted the padlocks for interlocking hearts.. I thought that was nice... Nice symbol for marriage too!!! Two hearts becoming one... (* sighs and looks glossy eyed... thinking of the whole romance of that statement!)

She was getting married on the Beach and was having a 'Treasure Chest' instead of a 'Wishing Well'.. So love that idea!!! Thought that the gold coin chocolate would be a good thing to go in them too.. as it is kind of treasure chesty!!!

Treasure Chest Wedding Bonbonneries
Mass producing these boxes is definitely a labour of LOVE!!! Takes for eva!!! So glad my lovely Hubbie was willing and able to help me out.. else she may never have received them on time!!!

I put a little Vellum tag on each one with their names and Date of the wedding..(After I was reminded that I forgot.. I seem to be having a lot of BLOND Moments lately!!!... SOOOOOOOOOOO unprofessional!!My heart is there... But the head is lacking some what..)

Treasure Chest Wedding Bonbonnerie - Single
All is well in the end... They turned out beautiful.. I was very happy with them..
And so was the Bride (when I fixed the overlooked bits!!! )

Techniques Class # 2

This is a sneak peak of what we will be doing.. Nothing more then a picture to tease you all!!! hehe.. I know I am evil!!! but you all love it!!!

You know the more I think about techniques the more I think I know!!! I could keep you all going for a few years I am sure.. and with Stampin' Up! Convention 2009 coming up next month.. well I am sure I will be inspired by our other Aussie Demonstrators in their "Swaps" and in the "Workshop Wows" that I will be privileged to see!!! Can you tell I am excited??? (19 days to go!! & counting)

Anyway enough blabbering.. here's the photo.. Book in still a couple of places... Be Quick.. If you haven't done the first one don't worry It will not make it harder.. Just means you will not have the box to put them in.. but I can repeat the class again.. just let me know you want to do it... And I'm all yours!!! ;) .. gerr baby!!!

Technique Reference Cards

Bali Breeze 20 Cards in a Box

Loved Loved Loved this class!!! I first attended it at Liz's!!! Was so inspired and wanted to do something like it for my wonderful customers!! Then I thought why not just do the same.. who can improve on perfection???

Everyone that attended it Loved it too!!! It's bright.. Colourfull and oh so HAPPY!!! WE do 4 card designs repeated 5 times each.. and there's your 20 cards... LOVED it!!!

Bali Breeze 20 Cards in a Box Class
I will be doing another one for Christmas in July... so Stay tuned for that... Date is 18th July at 10am.. Email, ring or text to reserve your place.. only 8 spots for this one.. so BE QUICK!!!

Techniques Class Numero UNO

Well this was a brilliant Class!!! It was loved by all!!! And I really enjoyed it too... The class is designed to help you remember all the techniques that we teach/learn... We make a card for every Technique and then glue the instructions on the back so you can take them home and remember what it was the crazy lady said!!! The whole "How to's" of creating that effect...

Inspiring, Informative, Educational.. and with me definitely entertaining!!! I always do something to make people laugh!!! Blond moments.. Foot in mouth disease.. You know the drill!!! So me to a tee!!!
Techniques Reference Cards Class Numero UNOThis class will be repeated in May (09).. there is still a few places.. It takes about 4 hours!!! Cause I went a little fussy Lala on the whole decorating the cards... got to remember to KISS.. (Keep It Simple Silly or Stupid.. what eva!!) You do the tin in the class too... this is how you keep all your Techniques class cards protected and in pristine condition... Remember there is 2 more classes this year so you will end up with 30 reference cards by the end of 2009... yeah...
Love to see you attending!!!

Happy Easter

Now I was given a challenge to make an Easter card for a workshop last month.. DO you think I have any Easter stamps??? Nuuuh uhhh... .. so what does one do when you have no stamps to suit the occasion???

'You FLY by the seat of your pants!! And make it all up... Fake it till you make it..'
(Can I get any more quotes in here???)

Anyway what I did was use a whole lot of background stamps and our oval punches... and made an Easter egg basket... Who says you need a stamp that has something to do with the event or occasion!!! You can think 'out side' the box and be CREATIVE!!!Happy Easter Card - Punch ArtIt worked for me in this instance.. I think...

Bronze Look-A-Like Metalic Tags

Did you know you can do layer upon layer of embossing then stamp into it to make an image indentation??? well here is what I did for another class just recently.. I did about 4 layers of embossing then stamped my image (while embossing was hot) ...

You really do need to make sure that you protect your stamp by coating it with VersaMark Before you stamp it... And the best thing about this technique is..... If you stuff it up all you need to do is reheat and the image melts away... for you to try again.. Yeah!!! Makes everyone look like a Pro!!!

I also used the MatPac & piercing tool to make sure that my brads were evenly spaced apart... Love the Matpac!!!Hoe to make your own Embossed Bronze Look-A-Like Metalic TagsOh yeah and if you want an antique look you can stamp your image into your StayzOn... It's a cool effect.. Try it!!!

Bright Eastern Blooms

Bright Eastern Blooms Card
I did this card at a workshop just recently.. I love it.. So bright and vibrant... We stamped it in to the VersaMark and then we did the 'Rock n Roll' Technique.. then we sprinkled clear embossing powder.. and Wallah... Beautiful GLOSSY flowers!!!

Kusudama Origami Ball

I had to give it a go... Just because.. Liz made one and a few of the Paper Angels have had a go& brought them to our last meeting.. .. So when Melissa and I got together for our All day/night Valentines Craft day... Well that was one of our projects...

Melissa's is so much nicer than mine.. And Liz's is lovely too... Mines not made form Stampin'Up! papers either.. that would make it so much nicer!!!

Mine has been to school for "Show n' Tell"... I believe it had a bit of an experience as a soccer ball as well... A little worse for wear!!!

Rainbow Kusudama Origami Ball
Oh well.. At least It's been used...

They look really lovely with a ribbon through the middle of them and hanging... You can even add a little bling or pearls from the Pretties Kit...that would be lovely!

Inspirational Weddings

Inspirational Weddings is a book that I have put together for Brides to have a look at to be inspired.. It has wording for invites etc, pictures of Bononnieres, filler ideas, Matching stationary ideas... etc etc... I had to decorate the cover... Of course.. So it looks pretty.. Inside I have different coloured Tabs that I made with our Round Tab punch...

Inspiration for Weddings Folder
It all helps to make decisions...

Elisa's Elegant Invites

I think I am in love!!!! Every now and then you create something that is just beautiful!!! I believe with this card design I have we have hit the nail on the head!!!

I used Stampin' UP! Brushed Gold card stock and scored it so that it folds like a door...
I cut slits in the middle of each door to insert ribbon so that I can tie a bow to close the card..
I stamped with the border stamp from 'It's Maori Mate' Stamp set, and embossed it with gold embossing powder.Elegant Gold Invites
The Stamp-a- ma-jig was an invaluable tool to help me to get the design perfectly in line!!

I scanned the negative of the photo and blurred the background and made it Black and White.
I attached the invite and the photo underneath with a little bow kept in place with a gold brad.

Inside the Elegant Gold Invites
Mass production.... They all look so NICE... It was hard to give them up!!!!! Lucky for Photos!!!

Cherish - Love - Scrappin'

I love Scrapping.. Only I just don't do enough.. so with that said this year I will be aiming to do much more!!! (Shameless plug) With our Paper Angels "Album in a Day" class.. well that is another way for others to Scrap some more too!!! ;) Yeah...

This is a lovely page that I did in a workshop recently.... Was really simple.. I think I am on a natural faze (colours) at the moment...

Cherish - Love - Scrapbooking Page 8x8"
Oh yeah.... Eventually I will replace the photo... I drooped the ink pad when I was demonstrating... Opps!!!

Hera's Wedding Invites & Bonbonniere

I was able to design some lovely invites with a Beautiful "Bride to be"... I made a few examples for her to choose from and then once she had her photos done she was ready to make the final design decision...Wedding Invite SamplesThe 3 examples to choose from.... What will they be like???

Wedding Invite - This is the oneHera wanted to have the BEAUTIFUL photo to be the focus of the invite.. so we simplified the design heaps... And I found some Maori Art to put on the background of the vellum invite details so she could have some traditional homeland feel to it...

I love this photo!!! My girlfriend Nardia took it... She is a brilliant photographer.. She catches the inner beauty of people spectacularly!!! Take a closer look at the photo.. It looks like the top of their heads and the pointed elbows form a HEART shape!!! So brilliant!!!
Check out Nardia's Web site..... Click Here

This is and idea for the Boxes.. to be decided soon..

Wedding BonbonniereWe were thinking that you could also put people names on the Bonbonniere's... That way they serve a double purpose... As a gift and a place card...

Wedding Bonbonniere and Name place Marker Pouch Box

Wedding Bonbonniere Boxes

I am venturing further in to the world of Weddings!!!! (I already make Costume Jewelery, Hair Accessories and arrange flower Bouquets/arrangements for weddings.. )
And Now I have been expanding my wedding involvements into making some lovely little boxes.. In this photo I have added some past projects that can serve as a wedding Bonbonniere... there are so many more to discover!!! YeahSome Examples of Wedding Bonbonniere Boxes

Liz's Rub-on Class

Liz had this wonderful class with some of her customers... I was privileged to be able to attend and learned a wonderful Origami box!!! And used the sewing machine on some paper crafts for the first time eva...
The Scallop circle is for a Scrapbook page.. and the white is supposed to have a photo on it.. I've not put one yet.. as you can see... hehe...I loved the box so much!!! And have experimented with it a lot.. The kids and I were making them at church and we did it with all different size paper. We made boxes, with in boxes with in boxes!!!Rub-on Class projectsI found some instructions from the
origami-instructions site.. Click on link
To make a lid all you have to do is make the square 1cm smaller (eg. lid 12x12cm... bottom 11x11cm).. There were heaps of other things on the net.. It was interesting searching Origami... I have heaps of new things to try out...

Birthday Bash Class

One Year of Birthday Cards FolderWe had a wonderful time making 6 Beautiful cards and a expanding folder for organising the years Birthday cards into... It was a great project and not hard... or expensive to reproduce... We used the Bali Breeze Designer Series Paper from our Spring Mini Catalogue... So it is very bright and cheery!!!! (* if anyone would like the instructions let me know)
And we got great use out of our new Scallop Stamps and Punches (also from the Mini Catalogue)HB CardBirthday Wishes CardIt's your B-Day CardCircle B Day WishesScallop Square Birthday CardStars Birthday CardThis is another colour example... This was the test one... and I smudged the tabs.. so don't look too close!!! Alternative Folder Colours

Because we are Brothers....

Because we are Brothers - Mini AlbumI wrote a poem ("Because we are Brothers") to go with some photos that I have taken of the boys over time... My boys love to look at the photo albums.. but sometimes getting the big one (12x12) out is a little awkward!!! So I decided to make a small one.. As I am a big believer in recycling I had saved all the card backing from our stamping technique booklets... And covered them with some of our Prints Designer Series papers... (Old Olive and Brilliant Blue.... My boys colours are blue and green...) As the pages are small I printed out the photos in black and white and half the size of an 4x6 photo... Most photo places will allow you to do this with digital prints these days... Sometimes that service costs extra money so if you want to be thrifty find someone with a photo editing program... (I think you can even get a free one on line... to do this job) and save both photos onto a 6x4 .jpg template and combine them to make one photo...

We Have the Same last NameWe play hte same GamesHave Similar HairShow that we carewe love our Grandpa
We Love our GranThe kids absolutely love this album.. And are so proud of it.. It is going to School for 'show and tell'... It's easy for them to handle and you can leave it on display.... It would be a great pressie for someone too!!! But not this one.. blood Sweat and tears went into it!!! It is not finished yet.. I have to buy some more ribbon and I have heaps more verses (I shortened these verses a little form the original as they were wordy... Cutting out the individual words WAS a great idea.. but very 'Fussy La La!'..
It's great to bind it with the curtain rings as you can add and subtract pages as needed!!!..
