Simple Sympathy

A funeral can be quite heart wrenching.. I am glad that I have the knowledge and belief of an afterlife... and that I know I will see my family again and I will be with them again... Sometimes I feel  funerals are a lot harder for those of us who are left behind... We can go through a such and immense range of emotions when a loved one passes on... At times it can be a great relief especially for someone who has suffered in this life... Because I feel that it is often a time of sadness I like to make it more more beautiful and more like a celebration with loads of colour in my arrangements... Because Colour and Beauty help me to feel loved, Happy and testify to me that the Lord is in control and he knows all our pains and is always there to comfort us in our time of need.. After all the Lord created all that is beautiful in the world... and when someone is born or dies I believe that is the time we are closest to the Lord!!! Which is as BEAUTIFUL as BEAUTIFUL can get!!!

One of our lovely Paper ANGELS team remembered this week that I am a florist and asked me to arrange some flowers for her.. and in 2 days she had 5 other family members that wanted arrangements as well...  Felicity said that she would prefer to give the business to me.. and she knew for the $$$... I would include many more flowers than the florists!!! I hope these arrangements pleased them all.. And gave them something Beautiful to offer and to remember their loved one by...

Beautiful flowers - Sunshine Rememberance

I wanted to include a lovely Simple Sympathy card with these arrangements so that I could write the individual family members messages on it..... the technique I used on this card was to put different couloured drops of my ink refills onto a baby wipe and use that as a temporary ink pad... it creates the perfect COLOURFUL rainbow effect that I felt would compliment the lovely Rainbow arrangements.... It is quite cool really... You can whip these cards up in a matter of moments.....  and there is no real need for embellishments because the colour is quite spectacular in it's self...

This arrangement I called Sunset... Because of the Beautiful Red, Orange and Yellow colours...

Beautiful flowers - Rememberance Box

These Three are in baskets.. the two outside ones are large baskets with a rainbow of coloured flowers...  The Middle one is a more traditional small basket of Pink and Yellow....
Bright Rememberance Basket of Flowers
Beautiful flowers - Happy Rememberance Basket

Bright Basket of Flowers

Vase of Yellow Flowers
Purple and yellow Box of FlowersThese two are again more traditional arrangements the purple and yellow one is in a box and the all yellow one is in a vase.. I always think it is nice to have something to keep afterwards... and a vase is a great way to have a gift of flowers and then something to keep...

God Bless ... May the Lord Comfort your family Felicity at this time.... xxxooo

BIG SHOT Magnets

This was a fantastic project that I did with some of the girls in my Church Activities Day Class... The girls are 8 to 13 year olds and LOVE cool colourful projects...

Big Shot - Fridge Magnets

We made some picture frames for the fridge with the Top Note die... and made some flowers and some butterfly magnets to decorate the frames or to use individually...  When you cover the magnet with our beautiful DSP you can create a lovely gift for someone... I used Pritt Power glue to stick the DSP onto the Magnet... And I recycled the magnets from the ones that you get in the post from Real Estate representatives and from some of calendar magnets that I got Vista Print to do for me last year..

What I love is that the Big Shot is so easy to use!!! Both youngsters and elderly arthritic hands can easily turn the handle to cut out the fantastic shapes and make wonderful projects.

Happy Magnetising

Make n Take - July 2011

If you were lucky enough to hold a workshop in July this year this BEAUTIFUL little Butterfly card was yours... And everyone in your workshop got to recreate it (minus the glitter)... It's such a lovely little card and not particularly hard to do.. If you are mass producing them the Big Shot makes it quite easy as you can cut at least 5 layers of butterflies out at a time...

Big Shot Butterfly and Glitter Card

The simplest and quickest way to add the layer of glitter is to use the new Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets... You cut out the adhesive and the card stock just a little bigger than the die you want to cut, take off ONE layer of the paper on the Adhesive Sheet and adhere to the Card stock.  Then you cut both the card stock with the adhesive Sheet attached in the Big Shot... Once die-cut take off the other layer of paper on the adhesive and sprinkle generously with glitter... be sure to push down glitter into the glue to cover well... You can do this with either the base of the glitter container or if you use a scrap piece of paper as your catcher of excess glitter you can fold it over and use the palm of your hand to press the glitter into the adhesive.

TIP 1.. I usually use the same colour of card stock as the glitter.. just in case you find when you tip off the excess glitter some card stock is not covered... It's not quite so obvious when you do use the same coloured card stock.. and to fix this problem you can always use your 2Way glue pen to fill in the bare spot and recover with glitter....

TIP 2... As we live in Australia and it can get quite humid and hot.. I discovered (out of part desperation and part inspiration) that if you put your adhesive sheet into the fridge first your layers of paper (on the adhesive) will come off better with out pulling the glue off in patches... and when I am at a workshop and needing to demo the Adhesive Sheets I ask the hostess if I can put it in the freezer cause it is faster at cooling... I now store all my Adhesive Sheets in the Studio fridge... so far they are all fantastic.... and ready to go right away when I need them...

Enjoy Gluing and Glittering!!!

PAPER ANGELS Training Meeting… July 2011

Daisy Chaing and Marker Stamping
In our meeting last month we made these two lovely cards.. The Daisy card is made with the Big shot.. and it is a brilliant way to get more out of your dies.. I will definitely be looking at my dies a little more now that I know I can make a string of die-cuts!!! Liz came up with this technique herself.. she is so clever!!!

Talking about clever you should check out photos of the projects that were entered into the home decor comp were sooooooooo lovely!!! You can see the photos on  Liz's Blog and in an instant you will understand how inspiring the PaperANGELS really are... this is why I am so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful team!!!

Here's another card that I did as an experiment using some retired left over DSP and some cheep old brads that I need to use that were collected YEARS ago...

Community Card Class Daisy chain Card

As you can see your die-cuts can be used in such wonderful new ways... inventive people are so smart!!!  Simple but VERY effective... you can whip this card up in a matter of moments... Easy Peasy!!!

Enjoy....

KENG Craft Group Projects

Every week during the school term I head on down to Kingston East Neighborhood Group Center and meet with some lovely ladies (and some men at times) and we make one card for $2 have a lovely chat and share some bickies and a hot drink... It's a beautiful group of ladies and I really look forward to catching up with them all each week... I love their company, friendship and LOVE. Knowing that i will be seeing them each week helps to keep me motivated and MAKES me try hard to be continually inspired.. heheh.. Nothing like having people depend on you for inspiration to get yourself motivated!...

Here are just some of the cards that we have created in the past couple of months...Some are really simple and some are more difficult... I like to mix it up for them and try to teach them new techniques almost every week... I am sure I will run out of them one day!!! hehe

Cards Made in Class from June to August 2011

The ladies really loved this owl card which was originally inspired by the lovely
Dinna  from the PaperANGELS team...
